If you're considering vocational training in Cameroon, you've probably run into these acronyms: DQP (Professional Diploma), CQP (Professional Certificate), AQP (Professional Attestation). What do they actually mean, and which one should you be aiming for? This guide breaks it down clearly, so you can choose your path with confidence.
DQP (Professional Diploma) and CQP (Professional Certificate): the State's official diplomas
The DQP (Professional Diploma), in French Diplôme de Qualification Professionnelle, and the CQP (Professional Certificate), in French Certificat de Qualification Professionnelle, are both awarded by the Ministry of Employment and Vocational Training (MINEFOP). They're recognized nationwide across Cameroon, earned by sitting a national exam organized by the Ministry.
The difference between the two comes down to the level of qualification:
- The CQP (Professional Certificate) certifies operational mastery of a trade. It's typically earned after a shorter, more intensive program, and prepares technicians to be immediately operational in the field.
- The DQP (Professional Diploma) represents a higher qualification level. It requires longer, more in-depth training covering broader skills — management, complex problem-solving, sometimes leadership. It opens the door to higher-responsibility roles.
Each training track is tied to one or the other of these diplomas, depending on the trade and the level of expertise it requires.

Here's a question a lot of learners have, but that few training centers actually explain clearly: what happens if you don't sit the national exam, or don't pass it?
At FlexAcademy, the answer is simple: you never leave without a certification. Every learner who completes their training, finishes their company internship, and defends their project in front of our panel receives an AQP (Professional Attestation), in French Attestation de Qualification Professionnelle, issued by the centre itself.
Concretely, for our Full track (1 year):
- You complete 9 months of hands-on training, followed by a 3-month company internship.
- You defend your project before a MINEFOP representative.
- If you sit the national exam and pass, you receive both the AQP (Professional Attestation) and the state diploma — DQP (Professional Diploma) or CQP (Professional Certificate), depending on your track.
- If you don't sit the exam, or things don't go as planned, you still leave with your AQP — proof that you completed and validated your training.
For our Short (4 months) and Mid (6 months) tracks, which focus more on quickly building essential skills or upskilling, the defense is internal to the centre and also results in an AQP (Professional Attestation).

- Aiming for official state recognition — a DQP (Professional Diploma) or CQP (Professional Certificate) — and a longer-term career? The Full track (1 year) is the only path that gets you there.
