The exam
The HSK (Hànyǔ Shuǐpíng Kǎoshì) is the official Mandarin Chinese test for non-native speakers. It has nine levels: levels 1 to 6 are each taken separately, and levels 7 to 9 are assessed together in a single advanced exam. The skills assessed depend on the level you sit.

The HSK is requested for studies and scholarships in China, and valued by companies that work with China. The level required depends on the institution or employer.

Reading in characters, completing sentences and understanding increasingly long texts.
