Whether you're preparing for the IELTS, TOEFL, TCF, or DELF, a few habits apply across all international language exams. Here are three simple tips that genuinely make a difference.
1. Know the exam format before you review the content
Every exam has its own structure: number of sections, timing, question types, scoring. Understanding exactly how you'll be assessed lets you plan your revision time wisely, instead of studying blindly.
2. Practice under real exam conditions
Doing isolated exercises helps, but nothing replaces a timed mock exam under real conditions (silence, limited time, no dictionary). It reveals the real challenges: managing stress, time, and fatigue over a long test.
3. Work on listening comprehension every day
This is often the most underestimated section. Listening to the language daily — podcasts, films in the original language, the news — trains your ear to recognize different accents and speaking speeds, which helps enormously on exam day.
